  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Dish

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast about 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk lukewarm, for yeast activation
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 eggs room temperature

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp orange zest from about 2 oranges
  • 2 tbsp orange juice fresh squeezed preferred

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Mix in eggs, melted butter, remaining sugar, and salt. Add flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
  • Punch down dough and roll into a rectangle. Roll into a log and slice into buns.
  • Place buns in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30–40 minutes.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter, honey, sugar, orange zest, and juice until bubbling. Pour warm glaze over hot buns.

Notes

Flavor Variations: Use lemon zest if out of oranges. Add pecans or walnuts for crunch. Leftovers make amazing bread pudding.
Perfect Pairing: Black tea, spiced blends, or even hot chocolate balance the sweetness beautifully.
