Ingredients
  

Cake Base

  • 1 box spice cake mix or chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water or warm milk for richer flavor
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice optional

Decorating

  • 1 tub cream cheese frosting or buttercream or whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts for garnish
  • 1/2 cup candy corn or seasonal sprinkles
  • 1–2 apples, thinly sliced brushed with lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line your chosen cake pan (round, loaf, or cupcake tin).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, water (or milk), and optional spice. Beat until smooth.
  • Pour into the prepared pan and bake according to package directions (usually 28–35 minutes depending on pan type).
  • Cool the cake completely on a wire rack before frosting.
  • Apply a thin crumb coat of frosting. Chill for 15 minutes, then add a smooth final coat.
  • Decorate with your chosen toppings: drizzle caramel, scatter candy corn or nuts, place apple slices, or add sprinkles.
  • Optional: use a spoon or fork to create texture swirls in the frosting for a rustic fall look.

Notes

Use fondant or chocolate leaves for a themed touch. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temp for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
